As many of you know, Brandy was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in May 2024 after a very difficult surgery to remove a tumor the size of a baked potato in half of her thyroid. The pathology report showed there was invasion of the cancer into the blood vessels nearby. Because only half of the thyroid was removed during the first surgery, she had to undergo another surgery to remove the rest of the thyroid. It did not go well and she went into respiratory distress and had to be resuscitated (i.e., we almost lost her)!! It was a rush to get this surgery done and her vocal cords were damaged which will necessitate a future surgery. Needless to say, this has been very traumatic and very stressful for Brandy and unfortunately she isn’t to the end of the road yet!

Because of the invasion of her blood vessels and the possibility of remaining thyroid tissue being left behind, Brandy needs to have radioactive iodine therapy in order to kill those cells and tissues. To have that treatment she needs a drug called thyrogen. Her insurance has denied her claim to pay for the thyrogen injections. These shots are $4000 each and she needs 2! She has missed a lot of work and her bank account is suffering. There is no way she can afford to pay for this essential treatment without some help. We all know how insurance companies work. Brandy is the kindest, most helpful person and would do anything to help any one of us. Please do what you can to help her and take some stress off of her during this time.
