Update. Brandy died this morning. She got double pneumonia while in the hospital. Thank you all who donated. .
Hi, my name is Linda I am fundraising for my sister-in-law Brandy. In January, Brandy was having difficulty walking and found out she needed shunt punt it to help with blood flow. Surgery was successful and was feeling better and walking. On March 3rd Brandy was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance with chest pain and shortness of breath. She was admitted to the hospital and diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). The hospital began chemotherapy immediately. Her first week in the hospital she got an infection, 2nd week she got a rash that spread from her next to her toes. 3rd week she got pneumonia. She was sent home from hospital after 33 days in the hospital. 9 days later she went back for more chemo and on the 5th day she was rushed into emergency surgery because her bowels were impacted, and they removed 24 inches of her small intestines. One of her two drains wasn't catching all the fluids, so she got an orange size blood mass sitting on her bladder. This caused her excruciating pain. Unfortunately, they could not drain it and will have to wait till it absorbs int the body in 6-8 weeks. Brandy was released from the hospital May 10th with staples in her belly from the surgery. Due to the chemo, she is not healing quickly. She has appointment on May 17th at Moffit to discuss bone marrow transplant.
Brandy turned 47 while in the hospital. She is unable to work so is on short term disability. Because she is not working, she has to pay for her insurance. She is not bringing in enough money to help my brother with the bills. My brother normally works two jobs to pay their bills, but he is unable to work his second job due to having to be in the hospital with Brandy.
Brandy is not only worried about her health she is now worried about their personal finances. Please help Brandy put her mind at ease with the financial difficulties she is having as a result of diagnosis and hospital stay.
