- My name is Brandy McBride and I'm a 52 year old mother of 5 with my 2 youngest still in the home. I work a full time job as an AGM at Jimmy John's and am struggling to pay bills. I lost my vehicle and the nearest bus stop is a mile away which means I depend on Ubers and Lyfts which is outrageous in cost. I suffered a massive heart attack in February and lost days of work because of it. I'm currently facing eviction and have reached out to many agencies for help. Either there's no funds available or websites are down, calls aren't being answered and messages aren't being returned. It's been hard these past two years paying $1100 for rent on my income. It wasn't my plan to be separated from husband and having my family torn apart. But after 21 years, my husband decided to give up on us and began to turn my world upsidedown. He threw away and destroyed much of my things while I was at work. You can imagine how ugly that got. Bottom line, I've been on my own for almost 2 years and it's been extremely challenging, but by God's grace I managed to pay the bills. He's grace is still sufficient, but I am in a financial rut. I'm being charged $200 month to month fee on top of the $1100 for rent. My daughter out of necessity stayed with me for some time and the leasing office was informed of it and gave me a letter of eviction for breaking the lease agreement. I was told she needed to be put on the lease or she had to leave. Understanding perfectly, she applied, but unfortunately was denied. Then the office gave a time limit to show proof that she was gone. Well, it took a couple of weeks for her to find a place and there went another $200 that was charged me. So, by the time my daughter was in her apartment, my other daughter turned 18 and an application fee of $50 needed to be paid so she could apply as an adult. This process took way too long and I was charged yet another $200. Also because I've been having to pay my rent late there's a $50 fee for that as well as $5 a day until paid.
I've reached out to all the agencies that I knew of for help. The Salvation Army is the only one that could help. They'll give the last $400 but I still owe $1000 which is why I'm asking for $600. I just paid $1500 and I had to borrow money to do that. I have a court date set on the 20th of March. I'm hoping to raise the money so I can continue to stay here. I've already asked my husband to help but he won't unless I sign divorce papers. Whatever you can help with would be so greatly appreciated. I want to say that asking for this kind of help was my very last resort. I'm not trying to get over I just need a little help so I can continue to help myself. I thank you kindly.
