Support Brandt's Fight Against Rare Liver Disease

Captain, The Mayor, Dr. Brandt, Brancho, Chicken Man, Honey, Dad… these are just a few of the names my husband, Brandt, has earned over the years. For those that know him, he is the salt of the earth. He’s a man that will help you whenever - for whatever - and make sure you have fun doing it. He is laid-back, honest, loyal, and well… just a good dude.

Well… our good dude is about to go through a liver transplant due to a rare disease called Hepatopulmonary syndrome. In short terms, his body has created alternate blood flow pathways and his blood is not picking up the oxygen he needs as it pumps through the lungs. Basic daily tasks that we all take for granted are hard for him, and minor exertion drops his O2 saturation as low as the low 70s. This will only continue to decline.

Brandt was approved and listed on the UNOS transplant list, and we are hoping for a transplant in the next 3-6 months.

But - we need your help. We will have the transplant at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta and need to relocate there for 2-3 months. I will also not be working or getting paid during that time. Between a drop in income, housing and travel costs, medical bills that insurance won't cover, and miscellaneous needs, we are trying to raise $20,000 to meet these needs. Multiple surgeries and hospital stays are common with post-transplant recovery, as well as MANY medications that will cost hundreds each month.

We appreciate everything that people are doing to help us. Brandt is one loved guy, and that is so evident in the outpouring of love we feel from near and far!
