Support Brandon’s Recovery Journey After Amputation

22 days ago, Brandon went into septic shock while we were on vacation in Florida. His heart was failing, his kidneys were shutting down, and all his numbers were declining. He went into a coma state for several days, and I was told he had less than a 10% chance of surviving. My two girls told their dad bye before my dad took them home.
A bacteria called Pasteurella entered his foot and into his bloodstream through an open wound. This bacteria comes from domestic animal scratches or bites. It rarely turns into sepsis.
He spent 8 days in the ICU and 4 days in the PCU before he was stable enough for me to drive him from Florida to a hospital in Nashville. He had clear cultures, but the infection was still raging in his foot and was to the bone. On Tuesday, October 29th, he had a below-the-knee amputation. Brandon is now in rehabilitation in Murfreesboro.
We have a wonderful group that has volunteered to build an ADA-compliant, sturdy wood ramp at our house. The materials alone will be close to $2000. The remainder of the money will be used towards medical expenses, things not covered by insurance, and towards the cost of the prosthetic.
Thank you to everyone who has followed this story for the last month on Facebook. Your words have been encouraging.
