Tanja is raising this fundraiser for Brandon, their spouse, as their family faces an overwhelming medical and financial crisis. In June, Brandon had to make the heartbreaking decision to leave a job of more than 18 years because of unbearable leg pain. What first seemed like a hospital visit quickly became a devastating series of surgeries after doctors found severe blockages in the veins in Brandon’s leg. Brandon underwent an urgent toe amputation and bypass surgery, but the pain continued to worsen. When the bypass failed, a second toe had to be amputated. After everything Brandon endured, doctors ultimately determined that a major leg amputation was the only path forward, and Brandon underwent that surgery on August 24. Brandon is now in a rehabilitation center, working hard each day to rebuild strength and prepare to come home.

These past months have taken a deep toll on Brandon and the whole family, emotionally, physically, and financially. While Brandon waits for disability benefits to be approved, the bills have not stopped.
