In December, Brandon was diagnosed with a rare, very aggressive form of Multiple Sclerosis, known as Primary Progressive MS. It has been a long road to getting a diagnosis, and this definitely isn’t a great one. Prognosis for PPMS is pretty poor, that’s all I’ll say.
In the US, there is only one FDA-approved medication to treat PPMS. This medication has about a 35% chance at “slowing the progression” of Brandon’s MS. After a lot of research, we have found a treatment called Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation. HSCT is a combination treatment of chemotherapy and stem cell transplant.
HSCT has a 75-85% chance of putting Brandon’s MS in remission, AND even possibly reversing some of the damage that has already been done. This treatment is not offered in the US, but is offered in a few other countries. By the grace of God, we found a facility in Mexico that has an opening for Brandon in April. This treatment will cost us roughly $75k, as well as Brandon having to miss work for over a month.
This is our family breaking down and asking our family and friends for help. Any amount helps; if nothing else, please share. And most importantly, please pray, because we are praying for a miracle!
