In 2017, my life changed in an instant. I was living in Reno, Nevada, working full-time and doing well. While visiting my grandparents after a snowstorm, I took a short ride in a side-by-side ATV. During a slow, routine turn, the vehicle suddenly rolled. I was pinned beneath it and suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury at C5–C7. After months in the hospital and rehabilitation, I was left quadriplegic, paralyzed from the chest down. I lost my job, my independence, and the life I had worked hard to build.
Since my injury, I’ve depended on full-time care to survive. My longtime caregiver, Kryste, has been by my side for most of the past eight years. She became family and helped me through countless challenges, moves, and medical setbacks. Over the past two years, my health has declined severely. Without consistent physical therapy and daily stretching, my body has become painfully stiff. I live in constant pain. I developed osteoporosis and have suffered multiple fractures from simple, everyday movements. I’ve tried rehab stays, treatments, and even a spinal cord stimulator, but nothing has brought lasting relief.
Now, the physical toll has become too much for my caregiver, and she is no longer able to continue. I fully understand, but it has left me in a terrifying position. I am currently hospitalized, facing possible placement in a nursing facility, and struggling to secure the care I need just to remain in my own home. I am scheduled for another surgery in hopes of reducing my pain, but I cannot do this alone. I am asking for help to cover caregiving support, medical expenses, physical therapy, and basic living needs during this critical time. With the right care, I am ready to fight for my health, regain strength, and reclaim some independence. Any support, whether through a donation or sharing my story, truly means more than I can express. Thank you for reading and for helping me keep going.
