On November 19 our son Brandon was in a single vehicle collision that left him with very serious injuries. He was air lifted to Halifax , where he spent 2 days on a ventilator in ICU . He has 3 fractures in his skull, a brain injury, a shattered left eyesocket, fractures in his sternum, left scapula, and 3 vertebrae, 3 broken ribs, and bruised lungs. He had to have facial decompression surgery to reduce pressure on some nerves in his face. He may require reconstructive surgery in the future for his eye socket.
Brandon remains in Halifax and depending on how his condition improves he may have to go through a 4 week brain injury program. When he is able to come home he will require full time support.
Although he will be covered by WCB for lost wages, his partner MacKayla will be staying home with him full time which will require her to take a leave of absence from work .
Brandon has made huge progress in his early days of his recovery, but he still has a very long road ahead of him .
There is never a good time for anything like this to happen, but this comes at time where Brandon and Mackayla have just finished renovating, and were getting settled into their first home. They could use support to help them get through this difficult time while waiting for benefits .
