Brandon Looney is a host, singer, and actor based in New York City. His natural affinity for music was nurtured early on by his family and church community in his birthplace of Springfield, Mo., where he grew up on gospel and soul music.
After moving to New York in 2013, Brandon quickly became a staple of the New York nightlife scene with power-packed performances as host of the The Box, one of New York’s most renown entertainment experiences. Always a fan favorite in Company XIV’s immersive theatrical productions, Brandon is currently in Queen of Hearts which marks his eighth show with the company. Brandon has also been seen on other stages, including as a member of the singing group Apocalypse Noir and at the annual Christmas show, AJ Blankenship presents: “Ok, Sleigh.”
Brandon was diagnosed with end stage kidney disease on May 3, 2023, and has been undergoing dialysis three times a week since then. He also receives an infusion every eight weeks to combat the Atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome (aHUS) with which he was diagnosed in July 2024. aHUS is a rare genetic disorder affecting only 2 out of every 1 million Americans that causes the formation of tiny blood clots that reduce or prevent proper blood flow, especially to the kidneys.
GoFundMe donations will support the six to eight months of recovery time that will be needed after the kidney transplant surgery as well as assisting the living donor whose recovery time is typically two months.
