On Friday, June 12, 2020, Brandi stepped out for a bite with a friend after a long few months of sheltering in place with her young daughter Aurora (who was with her grandmother visiting family out of town at the time of the fire, thank goodness!!) Not long after finishing a nice, long awaited grown-up meal in a real restaurant, Brandi received frantic a call from a neighbor "BRANDI OUR APARTMENT IS ON FIRE!!!"
Brandi rushed home to find her place in flames. It seems it started at a neighboring house, travelled through their yard, and spread to Brand's back patio, and eventually into her apartment as well as the connected ones. Brandi had spent the quarantine period doing a lot of cleaning, organizing and clutter management. She had placed a significant amount of truly sentimental treasures into a shed on her patio for safekeeping, yearbooks, pictures, souvenirs, etc. Things she wanted to keep but didn't have the room to display or even store within her apartment (parents know, the kids stuff takes over all storage space available!!) have now been reduced to ashes. That's such a punch in the gut.
However, that's the stuff that cannot be replaced and there's PLENTY that she lost that CAN BE REPLACED with your help! At this point it's up in the air, but Brandi and Aurora might have to move completely. They've lost the majority of their clothes, electronics, furniture, there's holes in the roof of the apartment that the firefighters cut to help fight the blaze. I'm getting this going to financially support Brandi but I'm not even sure of the extent of the support she will need. Besides all the stuff, she might even need first and last months rent at a new place! The Red Cross stepped in to assist and Brandi has a hotel room for now. There were pets in the apartment that suffered as well. Vet bills are currently piling up for the poor little pup UKI who was on the bed during the fire and had smoke inhalation problems.
Like I mentioned above, I'm not sure how much help Brandi and Aurora are going to need to get back on their feet after this tragedy, especially since Brandi lost BOTH of her jobs due to the COVID-19 outbreak. I will gladly post updates and give details and information as it comes, but for now, SHE NEEDS MONEY. She needs to replace the necessities that her and Aurora need to get back on their feet. Its going to take a lot of work. We can start by giving her financial support at this time and show her that we will be here for her to get through this. Money will not bring back what was lost but it will help her take the necessary and very EXPENSIVE steps to get back up, dust herself off, and show her daughter that no matter what happens you can get through it, we got you!
I appreciate any and all help! If you cannot donate, you can share! Spread the word!
