Help Brady Fight Kidney Failure and Get a Life-Saving Transplant

As many of you know, my son Brady has been bravely battling End Stage Kidney Failure caused by a rare autoimmune disease called IgA Nephropathy. For nearly two years, he endured chemotherapy, and many other medications —aimed at suppressing his immune system to stop it from attacking his kidneys. Despite the horrible side effects, the treatment didn’t work, and Brady’s health continued to decline.

Recently, doctors determined that he needed to start dialysis immediately and recommended a PD catheter for home dialysis while we wait for a kidney. What should have been a routine outpatient procedure in Tampa turned into a month-long ordeal, involving three surgeries and over a week in the hospital. Initially, they placed the PD catheter, but Brady’s condition worsened rapidly. His team rushed to perform two more procedures to insert HD catheters in his neck and chest, allowing him to begin life-saving hemodialysis.

The first sessions were incredibly hard—both physically and emotionally for Brady. Watching your child suffer is something no parent should have to experience. Brady will be going through another procedure soon to remove HD catheters.

Since then, we’ve been making daily 2-hour round trips to a Dialysis Center to train for home dialysis while we wait and hope for a kidney transplant. His doctors believe a transplant is the best chance for Brady to live a longer, healthier, and happier life.

Brady’s Health Update

Since having his PD catheter placed, Brady is now able to complete dialysis at home each night and has really gotten his routine down.

He continues to live life as fully as he can when his body allows—spending time with his girlfriend and friends and making the most of every good day.

Lately, he has been experiencing severe nausea and unable to eat, and we are working to manage with medication.

Through it all, Brady continues to maintain a positive mindset about his health and his future. He truly believes in mind over body.

If you or someone you know has ever considered becoming a living kidney donor, I ask that you please take a moment to learn more—for my son, Brady. Even if a kidney is not a direct match, Brady will go into the National Kidney Bank, and when his direct match is available, we will be ready for the transplant.

How You Can Help

The costs of dialysis and a kidney transplant are overwhelming—even with insurance. These include:
• Pre- and post-transplant medical care
• Anti-rejection medications
• Travel and lodging for transplant evaluations and procedures
• Ongoing dialysis supplies not covered by insurance

That’s why, after encouragement from many kind friends and family, I’ve created this GoFundMe. Your support—whether by donating or simply sharing Brady’s story—will truly make a difference in our lives.

Gratitude

We are deeply thankful for the love, prayers, and support we’ve received—from friends who helped us pack, offered shelter, and showed up when we needed them the most. We are grateful for his humor, and his strength are nothing short of inspiring. These qualities, give us hope every single day.

Thank you for being part of our journey.

With love and gratitude,
Cindy
