Support Brad Wilson's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Long-time Benson transplants, Brad and Beth Wilson, known by many wonderful locals for Brad’s RV Wash & Waxing or Beth’s Paint Parties/Art, recently had a very sudden, life-altering experience.
On the morning of April 8th, just two days after Brad’s birthday, Brad suffered a descending thoracic aortic dissection. This is an extremely serious and dangerous occurrence that usually doesn’t make it to surgery. Brad was heli-flighted to Tucson and miraculously made it through surgery! Unfortunately, one of the rare side effects of this surgery occurred, and now Brad is totally paralyzed from just below his rib cage and down.
This was absolutely not in Brad or Beth’s plans, but nonetheless, their faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior is paramount in navigating this journey, and they are fully trusting His plan.
So many friends and family are wanting to help—not only with prayers, support, love, and generous acts of kindness, but it has also been suggested that this GoFundMe be implemented to help with the countless items needed to support Brad’s recovery and improve his quality of life.
The needs of anyone living with a paraplegic disability are vast, and Brad is no exception. The current list includes modifying doors, sinks, and the bathroom; possibly adding a special room to their fifth wheel or finding alternative wheelchair-friendly living arrangements; acquiring equipment for continued therapy; obtaining a handicap-accessible vehicle; replacing the heater in their fifth wheel—which unfortunately stopped working the very hour Brad was trying to leave for the hospital—and covering all the day-to-day care needs, including smaller equipment and supplies. Thankfully, the much-needed wheelchair-accessible ramp is being generously donated and built by their wonderful Cowboy Church of Saint David congregation. This will allow Brad to return home and live with Beth again once he is discharged from the hospital, therapy, rehab, and skilled care.
Obviously, this is a long journey with many needs, but with faith, Brad and Beth are determined to let God’s love, mercy, and grace shine through it all. If you feel led to pray, donate, or help in any way with Brad’s road to recovery, it would be a blessing beyond compare.
Thank you to each and every one of you. God bless you all!
