Support Brad Chamberlin's Heart Surgery

For anyone who knows Brad Chamberlin, they will know he is all about one thing, his family. Brad and Jen recently found out Brad has a serious heart condition. To be honest, Brad is very lucky to even be alive today.

On May 1, 2024, while on the clock working his job, as a FedEx Delivery Driver, Brad experienced a fall while in the process of delivering a package to a house. Brad fell to his chest in a yard. Brad has told me, a split second after falling he just thought…. SH** I hope no one saw that… that’s embarrassing, as we can all see Brad thinking that. Well, that is the last thing Brad even remembers until he woke up surrounded by paramedics. After Brad fell, he somehow got back to his feet, finished walking to the house and delivered the package then started to return to the truck. On the way back to the truck Brad stopped in the yard and fell straight to his back. Brad had a heart attack. Thankfully the homeowner of where this fall took place was watching their ring doorbell camera and saw the event take place and called 911. If it wasn’t for that, Brad wouldn’t be alive today. Brad was located in the yard by EMS and rushed to the hospital where they were able to stabilize him. Over the next days Brad went through numerous tests and it was revealed he has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

What Is Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy?
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a condition affecting the left ventricle, the main pumping chamber of the heart. The walls of the left ventricle become thick and stiff. Over time, the heart can't take in or pump out enough blood during each heartbeat to supply the body's needs. HCM is usually caused by an inherited genetic variant (familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). HCM can lead to many serious health conditions, such as:
Atrial fibrillation, a type of arrhythmia that can cause blood clots
Heart failure
Stroke
Ventricular arrhythmias that can cause a cardiac arrest

It is a major cause of sudden cardiac death in people younger than 35.

Doctors and the Chamberlin family decided the best course of action for Brad’s extended health is to have a heart surgery and have a pacemaker installed. Currently Brad’s surgery is scheduled for May 29, 2024.

Brad started a process with workman’s comp through FedEx due to him needing an extended absence as Brad is under high restrictions and basically isn’t allowed to do anything that would raise his heart rate. Sadly, workman’s comp denied Brad’s claim, stating the heart attack was not work induced and was from a genetic disorder. There is a possibility Brad might not be cleared for work till August or later after getting his surgery and recovering from it.

Brad is the single income of the household as Jen handles the very important role of home schooling their beautiful four children (Henry, Paisley, Aubrey, Abby).

Knowing all this, the Chamberlin’s will be incurring multiple large medical expenses due to Brad’s heart attack, surgery, and recovery. Brad will also be off work for a few months which will put a large financial strain on their family.

Monetary contributions will help alleviate the Chamberlin’s from worrying about anything other than Brad’s recovery. Brad has always been a person to bring a smile to people’s faces with his funny and outgoing personality.
