Support Brabec Family's Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Angie and Scott Brabec, longtime residents of Howard Lake need your help. This includes both of their recoveries and need help moving forward. Please read everything.

June 7th Angie was in a bad car accident that almost took her life. It at this time is still unknown what made her black out. The medical staff at HCMC have been working hard to find out what medically happened that caused her black out and caused her to hitting a parked truck and trailer that was pulled over on the shoulder. (Pictures here are a bit graphic).

She suffered many injuries including a break in her femur that protruded through her thigh. 1st surgery was placing a rod in there to fix bone. 2nd surgery was to clean out any debris to avoid any infections. She has a 3rd surgery on June 25th scheduled to place more hardware below her knee where she also broke her tibia and fibula. She also received a large gash on her forehead and causing some headaches and scan showed no brain damage. She did not break any ribs or sternum, however, trying to work through the pain from the air bag deployed.

Prior to this she has been helping her husband to recover from a diabetic ulcer on bottom of his foot and the primary caregiver of everything. Found out he is diabetic and learning how to live with that, which has been challenging. 3 surgeries were performed on his foot including his 4th toe being amputated to save his whole foot while the infection grew fast quickly and was in his blood and gotten into his bone.

While learning new life as a diabetic he had a couple falls from passing out and the neuropathy from the waste down causing fractures in his L4/L5. This has slowed his physical development during therapy to be able to walk normal or distances and continues with physical therapy during the week to improve this.

Scotts health issues and this journey started a year ago in May 2023. As a laborer fixing and putting in new dairy equipment, and not being able to work.

They need your/our help now. The medical costs, costs of therapy and driving expenses, and now same as Angie, neither have been able to work and unaware of a timeline of when they both can return to work, it’s been extremely difficult to keep up with all the costs and the unknown costs to come.

First and far most they request any and all thoughts and prayers needed for their continued therapies to get back to good health.

Second, any donations, that this great community, family, and friends from all over can offer and help with will forever be appreciated. All donations will help with any medical continuations they need to be healed and to help with bills and costs of living until they are recovered enough to return to the workforce themselves, and to help with costs of getting home ready for Angie to come home and for Scott to be able to continue their care.

It was a hard thing for them to bite off and ask for help, but it’s to the point they need our assistance to be able to live at the moment. They have always given back to those that also needed help with life’s expenditures as everyone comes together to help one another out.

They want to thank everyone in advance for anything that they receive at this time. We will keep everyone informed with any updates on their progress.

You can also send anything you want and donations to PO Box 242, Howard Lake, MN 55349 if you prefer to not donate online.

Update: June 13th. Angie was able to sit up in a chair for an hour and making some good progress on her strength on her upper body. This was an emotional task that is ongoing right now. And lastly, we are just thankful she is here with us today to enter this new chapter of her life.
