Support Bosco's Life-Saving Surgery Costs

Hello, my name is Mollie and my Partners name is Romeo.

Our dog, Bosco, is our registered emotional support animal (ESA). He helps both my boyfriend and myself with a plethora of issues. We’ve had him ever since he was a puppy and he is four years old now. Our world revolves around him, and him, ours.

Bosco had been acting extremely off since we recently moved to a new living situation in January. He began showing no interest in food and throwing up bile in the mornings like clockwork. We thought he might just be taking this move a little harder, however, he’s used to being moved around and had never had this problem before.

We tried so many things and came up with so many conspiracies as to what could be going on with him. We were terrified he would be diagnosed with cancer as that’s very common in Pitbulls. We fed him chicken and rice for weeks, eventually changed his food to a food he could eat, got bloodwork screening, tried to switch environments to see if it was anxiety, etc, but nothing worked and he only got worse.

On March 19th, Bosco took a turn for the absolute worse. He began throwing up bright red blood over and over. We immediately took him to SPEC veterinary hospital in Cordelia. The bill there was $423 for them to recommend/refer X-rays, an ultrasound, and scope. We got sent home with medications that night.

The very next day on the 20th, I took him to his primary Doctor (Dr. Konigsberg at Oak Animal Hospital in Vacaville, where I do work as a receptionist) we did a fasted X-ray and an ultrasound which determined his stomach was full even though he hadn’t eaten that morning. We fasted him for another day and took more X-rays the following morning, 3/21. Nothing had moved which meant he definitely had an obstruction. I immediately left work with him and took him to VEG in San Ramon, they performed another ultrasound which diagnosed an obstruction. They did a scope on him and absolutely tried their best to get the mass/obstruction out, but there was complications with the scope and it failed… Bosco immediately went in for emergency surgery.

We watched him get cut open and the Doctor start slowly pulling out chunks and chunks of obstruction from his stomach. We are blessed and grateful to say that the surgery went well and he’s been recovering well, even though he’s in pain. Bosco spent overnight at VEG and spent the whole next day there as well, 3/22, recovering.

I want to mention we are extremely lucky as we did receive a discount due to me working at Oak Animal Hospital which pairs with VEG. Even with our discount, the bill came out to around $8,000

All together, now we are at $8,423, not including all the work done at Oak Animal Hospital.

We are kindly asking that if anyone has any change to spare, to please help us pay for Bosco’s surgery costs.

I want to say we are usually never the type of people to ask others for money or help, however, the job that Romeo was working at for 3 years that paid well went out of business and it’s been extremely difficult to find any work that pays similar.

We deeply appreciate all the work the Veterinarians have done for Bosco at Oak Animal Hospital in Vacaville, SPEC emergency hospital in Cordelia, and VEG emergency hospital in San Ramon. We could not thank them enough for saving our wonderful Bosco’s life.
