TOMORROW ISN’T PROMISED.
And for Boris — a devoted Service Dog — and the veteran who loves him… those words have never felt more real.
My name is Dawn. I am a volunteer rescue coordinator.
I spend my time helping huskies escape high-kill shelters and coordinating the logistics that get them to safety.
A few months ago, I had the honor of coordinating Boris’s reunion with his owner after he was wrongfully surrendered to a shelter while his owner was out of state working. Someone he trusted turned him in. Boris could have been euthanized.
But he made it home.
Today, I received devastating news.
Boris’s owner — a veteran who served our country overseas — has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and is now in an aggressive treatment plan, fighting for his life.
Because of the intensity of his treatment, he is currently separated from Boris.
Boris is safe in temporary care with someone trusted.
It took everything in me not to break down when he told me.
Right now, this brave man is battling cancer.
He is fighting to live.
He is fighting to come back to Boris.
And I am asking for your help.
I cannot let Boris ever face the inside of a shelter again.
He does not deserve that.
He has already known uncertainty once.
I am raising funds to ensure that, no matter what happens, Boris will be cared for — medically, emotionally, safely. If his owner recovers (and we are praying with everything we have that he does), those funds will have safeguarded Boris during this storm. If the unthinkable happens, Boris will never be abandoned again.
I am bracing for the worst.
I am praying for the best.
Today is a gift, as tomorrow is a present waiting to be opened. These exact words are lived by all of us.
For Boris the Service dog and his owner,
Tomorrow isn't promised,
Tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
But today, we can choose to show up.
Please help me help Boris.
Any amount makes a difference.
Any share matters.
For a veteran.
For a Service Dog who has already given so much.
For love that is fighting to survive.
Thank you. God bless you.
