A little over a week ago Boon Stoeckel was a regular 16-year-old guy on his way to the doctor because a growth had appeared on his knee. Boon’s been diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer most common in teenage boys. He has undergone x-rays, scans, and a biopsy in the last week to confirm the diagnosis. The next several months will be filled with chemotherapy, surgery, and more chemo. As if the diagnosis is not stressful enough, the time Boon’s parents must now dedicate to Boon’s treatment will place a significant financial strain on their family.
