It seems a weird and scary thing, to reach out on a crowd funding site and ask for help. You go through so many different thoughts...am I asking too much? Will people understand our needs? I mean really, it was 2020, COVID, crisis all around us, and regardless of our circumstances, we like to see ourselves as blessed. But, it’s back.

This is a story about a strong, amazing, resilient woman, Bonnie Goodhart. 17 years ago she was blasted with devastating news at the holiday, that nasty C word, CANCER ( Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia) Told over and over she may not beat this thing, she stood tall and said, bring it. Through all this she lead Relay for Life, mentored others, never stopped working, did everything she absolutely could, even through chemo. After about 9 years into the never ending battle that nearly depleted all she had… health, finances, spirit ally, hope – she held strong and she did it -she beat it. It took so long to even begin to recover from those last 9 years, the little pieces of fracture that are left behind is something most won’t understand.
And, sadly, here we are again. As if 2020 wasn’t enough of a dumpster fire…. A few months ago, after having to insist to her doctor that she hadn’t been feeling right for some time, after testing she had to pry out of her previous oncologist, she was right… the cancer is back. Because of the negligence of this doctor, she had to trust her instincts and find another oncologist. And though through unfortunate circumstances going to a new doctor has been a blessing in disguise. Bonnie has been taking chemo and doing everything she can to work. To make things more complex, her husband, Jim, had 2 hip replacements in 2020 and is still on the mend. He was just delivered news he is facing spinal surgery in the upcoming months.
This is where that help part kicks in. These two beautiful souls, senior members of our society, who have done so much for so many others, have been doing what they could through COVID and being extremely high risk, through 2 major surgeries and trying to work, through getting cancer and chemo AND STILL TRYING TO WORK!
They need help. They are not asking, We are asking. We are her family, her support system, and know when to ask when they may not otherwise. We are asking you to do what ever you can. There are mounting medical bills, they need treatments-chemo-surgeries, they have reduced and inability to work, are posed with grave health risks, and they need to help.
