On the morning of September 29th, our world changed when my mom, Bonnie Branham, was rushed to the hospital with severe chest pain. Doctors quickly discovered a critical blockage in her main artery, and she was transferred between hospitals by helicopter to southern Maryland hospital. After attempts to place a stent, it was unsuccessful. They immediately started the process to transport her by helicopter to Medstar Washington hospital center where she underwent emergency open-heart bypass surgery. In just 12 hours, she endured 4 surgeries, and complications meant her chest couldn’t be closed right away. She remains in the hospital, closely monitored, with another surgery scheduled Friday October 3rd to close her chest and begin her healing process.
My mom is known for her fun, feisty spirit, and her kindness to everyone she meets. Even in this fragile state, her resilience shines through, and her nurses and hospital staff have commented on her beautiful spirit. This journey has been overwhelming for our family. We have all missed work to be by her side. The cost of her hospitalization is mounting, even with insurance, and the financial strain is growing as we try to keep our family together and focused on her recovery.
We created this GoFundMe to help ease the burden of medical bills, travel, and lost income so we can support my momma and dad through this long road to healing. Any support will go directly to helping my parents manage expenses and focus on what matters most: Momma’s recovery. We are deeply grateful for your kindness, generosity, and prayers during this difficult time. Your support means everything to us as we help mom fight her way back to health.
