We’re raising $6,000 - $10,000 to produce Candy From a Stranger which is an experimental music video exploring desire as an irresistibly sickening force. Through surreal pop imagery, camp, & body horror, we invite you into a world that subverts the playfully pleasurable into something much more deranged.
This project asks something we rarely confront honestly:
How do we make space for contradiction to exist in our sexuality and relationships?
How might we contend with our desire as intoxicated pleasure or poisonous rapture? Can it be both?
Modern culture sells desire to us constantly through advertising, social media, music, hookup culture, and beauty standards. We are taught to consume intimacy quickly, compulsively, endlessly. Candy From a Stranger transforms that idea into a grotesque candy-colored fantasy where the incessant search for pleasure slowly mutates into madness.
This music video is about psychological exhaustion resulting from our modern culture of overconsumption, performative desire, and the pressure to constantly commodify ourselves for validation.
Produced by the New Mexican production company, Liminal 77, the project blends:
- surrealist pop aesthetics
- queer underground performance art
- camp satire
- practical effects
- stylized VFX
Visually, the world begins like a glossy Y2k perfume commercial & slowly collapses into an overstimulated nightmare.
We’re incredibly excited to collaborate with:
+ TILCARA Local Santa Fe performance artist and songwriter exploring desire and play every which way.
+ Vault Studios An Albuquerque VFX house helping bring the surreal visual world to life!
+ Bloom Studios Their sister music management company supporting emerging artists and independent production xox
This project is deeply important to us because it showcases what independent artists in New Mexico are capable of creating together. Too often, experimental queer art, femme-led productions, and regional creatives are overlooked in larger industry conversations. We want to prove that bold, cinematic, emotionally challenging work can come from local collaboration and community support.
Your contributions will directly support:
production design & set materials LOTS OF CANDY!
costumes, makeup, and practical effects SO MUCH CANDY!
lighting & camera equipment NO CANDY HERE!
VFX and post-production MAKING VIRTUAL CANDY!
food and support for cast & crew IF CANDY WAS MONEY!

This is a femme-made, femme-produced, femme-performed project built through collaboration, experimentation, and community belief.
By supporting Candy From a Stranger, you’re not just funding a music video! You’re helping support:
