Bodhi is my 8-year-old son, and he has been diagnosed with Level II Autism, ADHD, and Learning Disabilities. When Bodhi started public school in TK, it was on the advice of his doctors so he could receive an IEP more quickly. By First Grade, he was moved into a Mild to Moderate classroom. Unfortunately, we had to leave public school two years ago after Bodhi suffered multiple head injuries, bathroom accidents, and was confined in rooms where he was left to cry under tables. The school simply could not provide a safe environment for him.
For the past two years, I have been Bodhi’s full-time caretaker through IHSS, which allowed me to support him at home. Recently, Bodhi’s IHSS hours were cut drastically from 228 hours a month to just 33. Because Bodhi cannot attend public school, I am unable to work full time, and losing the IHSS income has devastated our living situation. On top of this, I will be having a full hysterectomy, bowel resectioning, and hemorrhoidectomy in July due to stage 4 endometriosis, which will require a recovery period of 4 to 6 months.
Despite these challenges, we are holding onto hope that Bodhi can soon receive Stem Cell Therapy, which could be life changing for him. Any donations will go directly towards Bodhi’s next two rounds of Stem Cell Therapy and will help us as a family through this difficult transition, especially as I recover from surgery. We thank you for any donations you can make—your support will truly be life changing.
