Hello everyone, my name is Ashley. My son is currently in Children’s due to an illness and our car has broken down. We bought all the necessary parts to fix it at home before Bodhi (my son) got sick. In the middle of fixing it, my son got sick and we had to take him to Children’s. During the time he has been in Children’s due to illness, we had to come home to fix the car the rest of the way, and in the process, we even got sick ourselves.

Yesterday, 3/8/2026, we got the car put back together and tried starting it. It will not start. We have tried jumping it, and it still will not start. I’m starting this GoFundMe to raise funds to pay for my vehicle to get fixed. My dad and everyone has tried to help, but nothing we are doing seems to be working.

I normally would not be making this post. My child is medically complex as he was born with spina bifida, Arnold Chiari II malformation, and hydrocephalus, and this is our way to get him back and forth to the appointments he needs to go to, along with me sharing custody with my two daughters. I’m at a brick wall. Bodhi's dad and I do not have jobs due to the lack of nursing and how much care he needs throughout the day. I really don’t know what else to say or do. We have been depleted of our funds this month trying to get our car back up and running, and we might need a new battery or starter. One of the two or both. Again, I rarely make posts like this; I just don’t know what else to do or what else to say.

Update 3/11/2026: my dad came back out before he had to go to work mind you he lives two hours away from us and brought out his battery charger/ battery checker and our battery is putting off enough voltage. In the process of checking that we found my cars linkage the thing that puts the car in reverse, park and drive is broken so that’s another fix we weren’t expecting to find. At this point the starter is still a question in mind.
