Support Bob's Urgent Vet Care Needs

Donation protected
Hey y’all! Some of you may know that the last 6 weeks have been a lot of back and forth to emergency vet clinics with Bob. After a series of emergencies, we discovered that he suffers from Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease. Basically what this means is that he’s extremely prone to bladder stones that cause a blockage, making him unable to urinate. If left untreated, these blockages are deadly.

This is actually extremely common in male cats, and is usually treatable with a proper prescription diet and hydration. Unfortunately for Bob, he is so prone to these blockages that he has had to undergo Perineal Urethrostomy surgery this week to further lessen his chances of this reoccurring. Basically, the goal of this surgery is to remove his genitalia, which shortens and widens his urethra, making it easier for him to pass the stones himself without veterinary intervention.

Unfortunately, this surgery and all the accompanying care is quite expensive. He’s got great insurance (better than mine!) but even that doesn’t cover 100% of his vet bills, and doesn’t cover any of the extras needed to care for him during recovery, like pellet litter and a new litter box.

On top of the costs associated with his care, I have also had to take a considerable amount of time off of work in the next few weeks to make sure he is supervised at all times and be able to take him to his multiple follow-up visits. This time off, especially around the holidays, has put me in an extremely tight financial position.

I know it may seem strange to spend so much time and money on a cat, but Bob really is such a special little guy. He’s obsessed with belly rubs and cuddles, spends whole days yelling at me to give him attention, and is always lounging within 6 inches of wherever I am, usually with at least one paw touching me so he knows I’m close by. He’s brought me more joy during the last 2 years than I could have possibly imagined, and no matter how bad of a day I’m having, coming home to him always makes it feel trivial.

He’s truly the best little guy I know, and I’ll do whatever I need to to keep him around. I know that the holidays are a hard time financially for everyone, but if you’ve got anything to spare, I do hope you’ll consider donating.

Much love and appreciation from both Bob and I!
