Bob was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2023. The treatment he received helped him reach remission, but it also led to a new diagnosis: Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS). MDS is a group of blood cancers that destroy the bone marrow’s ability to produce healthy blood cells, causing immune system problems, severe anemia, and bleeding issues. Now, Bob needs a donor stem cell transplant and must be hospitalized for weeks. After the transplant, he’ll need to stay in Pittsburgh, PA for 100 days to be close to Shadyside Hospital for ongoing care.
During this time, Bob and his caregiver will stay at Family House, a special residence designed for patients and their loved ones. The funds raised will help cover the cost of the Family House stay, parking, food, and any out-of-pocket hospital expenses. This support will allow Bob to focus on his recovery without the added stress of financial worries.
Bob is a kind, loving, and a believer who has put his faith in God and his doctors to get him through this. He recently lost his wife of over 30 years and has two college-age children, two adult children, and three grandchildren who all love him dearly. His brother Ray, sister-in-law Alva, Carol’s family in Canada, and his many friends are all rallying around him with love and support. Even while sick, Bob has always gone out of his way to help others. Any donation would be greatly appreciated, and I thank you for any assistance you can provide to help Bob and his family during this difficult time.
