Support Bob's Battle with Pancreatic Cancer
Donation protected
I'm doing this for my husband Bob who, on October 29th, 2024, was told that he had a 4.5 cm mass on his pancreas. He was back and forth to doctors to try to find out what was going on with him and why he was in so much pain. He was hospitalized on December 29th and didn't come home until January 5th. On January 2nd, they did an MRI and found the mass had grown to 11.9 cm, and on January 3rd, they did a biopsy and found out that the mass was inoperable. He went back into the hospital on January 7th, was admitted, and told that he definitely had cancer of the pancreas. Inoperable and given 3 to 5 months to live. It hasn't even been a month, and he's declined so much. He's now on oxygen as well as many other meds just to make him comfortable. His legs are swollen. His stomach is swollen and rock hard, and he is in pain.
Some of the reasons we are doing this is because where he is not working, he needs to pay for his medical, which is over $1,100 a month, and he needs to keep his medical coverage. As well as some things, we are trying to get his swelling down in his legs and stomach. He's on hospice, and the nurse comes out every week to check on him, sometimes twice a week. His stomach has gone from 39 inches on January 21st to 42 inches on January 23rd. We are not sure if this is the tumor that's growing or if it's fluid that is not supposed to be there and making things harder for him.
He's now walking with a walker and taking baby steps to get anywhere. Where it would once take him maybe a minute to go from the living room to the bathroom, now takes him 5 minutes at least.
When we are lucky enough for him to be awake, he still has his wits about him sometimes and cracks jokes, but he doesn't talk loud, and it's really hard to hear him.
This is one man who is going to be missed by his family, his friends, and his co-workers. We are just asking for any type of help anybody can give us to get him through, to keep his insurance, and to help us buy the things that he's going to need and maybe for help with the arrangements that he wants. If anybody can help us, it doesn't matter how much. Just know that it will all be appreciated. Please, please just pray for him. He has made such a huge impact on a lot of people. He has had a lot of friends and a lot of people that he's known from work. I know one of those people from his work that is going to miss him. So please keep Matt in your prayers also because this is going to be so hard for him too, as it is for his family. So if anybody could please help us with all this, we really appreciate it.
Thank you and God bless you all.
