Support Bobbye Gallen's Fight Against ALS
Donation protected
I am reaching out to you today on behalf of Bobbye and Amber Gallen. I am launching this GoFundMe campaign to offer support to Bobbye in his courageous battle against ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ALS is a debilitating neurological disease that affects the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles, gradually leading to paralysis. With your support, we can help Bobbye and Amber along with their family to navigate the challenges of this devastating condition and bring hope and comfort to their life. Bobbye is a native of Swansboro and was working aboard Camp Lejeune when he was diagnosed with ALS. ALS is a terrible disease alone and Bobbye is part of a extremely small percentage of ALS patients who are affected in their pulmonary function first. Bobbye’s symptoms started suddenly, it was a very unclear and devastating time for Bobbye to say the least. Since the initial diagnosis, Bobbye has been to numerous doctors at Duke ALS clinic and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist ALS Clinic. The outcome of Bobbye’s second opinion was not what he had hoped for but nonetheless it provided a definite diagnosis for Bobbye and Amber. Life is changing daily for Bobbye, as new symptoms are surfacing and the ability to breath is becoming more of a challenge than before. Bobbye is losing the ability to do simple things such as picking up and glass, feeding himself and the ability to do his daily functions of living. I know that our community and beyond can help lighten the burden this terrible diagnosis has placed on him and Amber. Amber works full time and comes home, cooks, cleans, and attends to all of Bobbye’s needs and it is becoming overwhelming for them both. Bobbye and Amber are thankful for those who have stepped in to help with appointments and other small gestures, they truly mean the world to them both. To help Bobbye and Amber compensate for the ever-increasing lack of mobility, Bobbye will be needing a wheelchair, vehicle to transport in, and modifications to his home to make everyday task more manageable. There are so many direct costs related to ALS, including (but not limited to) medical testing, co-pays, medication, and at-home care. The indirect cost: travel expenses, home renovations, loss of income (Bobbye) and reduced income (Amber) as the journey continues, I ask that you consider helping this family in anyway that you can. I think we can come together and make a difference in the life of Bobbye Gallen. I am also going to be starting a meal train and if you would like to be added you can email me, or message me on the social media accounts, I will have them listed below. In addition to this page and the Meal Train I will be doing a fund raiser of shirts for Bobbye. Please share this post so that it reaches as many people as possible not only to help Bobbye and Amber on their journey with ALS but to spread awareness of this devastating disease and the impact it has on ALS patients and their family.
Thanks for your help and consideration,
