REMINDER: If you’d like to donate to my GoFundMe again, please click on the link at the top of this email. And really thank you so much for even considering making another donation!
Dear Friends, It’s December 22nd and I only thought I would be here at Ronald Reagan Medical Center for 7-10 days, but I’m now getting close to having been here for almost three months, if you can believe that! I can assure you that it’s a very long time to be poked, prodded, scanned and tested, operated on numerous times, and constantly being monitored by doctors, nurses and machines. On the positive side, my team of doctors has learned so much about the kidney, and I’ve answered so many of their questions and made myself available to hundreds of medical students, and I feel like I’ve made a contribution in return for what everyone has done for me, and made more progress in these past few months than other doctors have made in the last 13 years with my struggle with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
Of course there have been ups and downs and even frightening infections and episodes, but I learned that this came with the territory.
I finally have approval to travel back home to Utah, the day before Christmas, at which time I’ll immediately need in home health care and will be expected to take care of copayments when I visit the hospital in St, George, Utah, for appointments with doctors, regular infusions, and bloodwork.
Until I leave, I still have to pay for my outpatient room which has a balance of $1200, and my in home health care will be $2200 per month, until we know how much care I require.
But because of the support of so many donors, many of whom have become friends, who cheer me on every day, and send me notes of encouragement , and pray for me, here’s my message to you: I’ve been successful here and now have two kidneys which are so much better than when I started this journey, and I have to tell you that I could not have done this without every single one of you. I would have been unable to stay here at UCLA and receive this level of care and these groundbreaking surgeries.
So again, if you’re able to send a donation of $10, $27, $50, $100 or whatever you like, you can be sure that it will make my recovery easier and also I will pay it forward when I am well. I am extremely optimistic that complete wellness is not too far in the distance.
Happy Holidays again to all of you!
Warmly, Bobby Wesson. Los Angeles
