My name is Shannon Hunter, I am reaching out on behalf of Bobby Ramsey and his family. Bobby is our 4th cousin by marriage and his parents (Robert and Katherine) live 100 yards behind us.

Bobby is 42 years old and he was in a motor vehicle accident June 16, 2025. He was on his way to work early that morning resulting in a one car accident due to a seizure– he takes his medicines as prescribed and not knowing that morning this would happen. First Responders called his parents that morning telling them that he was fighting for his life and for them to go to CRMC ASAP. Bobby was in such critical condition that they needed to fly him out but could not due to the weather, so he was transported by ambulance to Vanderbilt Trauma Unit. Bobby has been at Vanderbilt up until June 30, 2025, he has been moved to Select Specialty Rehab Center in Nashville. Initially, he was on the ventilator, multiple medicines (by feeding tube), support devices, neck brace ( fractured neck that still has not had surgery on or possibly may not at this time), most ribs are fractured, broken arm, skull fracture, external fixator on his pelvis for stability until he heals. He also has developed a severe case of pneumonia. He has had a stroke which has affected his left side. Bobby is still on the ventilator with a trach but slowly being weaned off but he can open his left eye a little! He has made some progress cognitively and is able to move his right hand, both feet, and left hand somewhat on command.

Bobby is a strong young man and has his whole life in front of him, he is independent, kind, and tough but tinder on the inside. He is an only child and his parents have been with him 24/7 since the accident. Now that he is at the rehab, only one visitor is allowed to stay while the other either stays at the hotel or in their car (due to how expensive the cost is in Nashville), which is so heart breaking to know these two parents who are in their late 60’s with medical conditions have to sleep in their jeep every other night and then drive back to Cookeville. I just worry so much about them mentally, physically, and financially! They have to stay well enough to care for him when Bobby comes home whenever that may be!

I want to do this GoFundMe (funds will be through my daughter Samantha) to help out of love and compassion for this family! Greg, myself, my daughter Samantha, Katherine’s sister and her family have been helping with the animals here at home and switching out with them when they need to come back to Cookeville just to reset. I can only imagine what the bill will be after all that has been done and what is to come in the next weeks or months.

Thank you so much in advance for the prayers and to those who are able to contribute! Also a huge thank you to Bangham Heights Baptist Church and to close family friends for already contributing!
