Support Bobbi Becker's Stroke Recovery
Donation protected
Hello all,
bobbi becker was recently hospitalized after having a stroke. She started having a severe headache on Tuesday Oct 29th. Her headache continued but it was when she started to experience vision loss that a friend decided to take her to the emergency department in Hanover, PA on Oct 30th. A CT scan of her brain revealed that she had suffered a stroke and some bleeding into the area where the stroke occurred. She was then taken in a helicopter to Harrisburg Hospital in order to be evaluated by a neurologist and more closely monitored. After spending a week in the hospital, bobbi was able to be discharged home in the care of her family and friends.
We are profoundly grateful that she has all her strength and ability to speak and eat. She continues to regain more energy and pep everyday. Her vision remains decreased and it is unclear how much of her vision will return. I am sure many of you intimately know someone who has had a stroke and the life changing adaptations that come as a result.
Many of us know bobbi for her watercolor interpretations of local scenes from her favorite place on earth, Adams County Pennsylvania. She loves nothing more then being at home, with her dog Murphy, watching the birds, walking down by the creek and painting.
Our concern now is if and when bobbi will be able to paint again. Painting has been bobbi's main source of income her entire adult life and truly, her life's passion. She has built an intimate group of local collectors whom she personally knows on a first name basis. bobbi's lively energy and whimsical aura capture people's attention and never let it go. She is always grateful to those who have supported her throughout these many years, she loves watching the next generation become a part of her customer base, and she gets excited about "new friends" who have maybe stopped by her gallery for the first time.
We found that bobbi had curated a wonderful community that is built on supporting each other. We are hoping to lean on this community during this time. We are seeking donations to assist with paying off any medical bills that insurance did not cover, medical care after her hospitalization, and losses sustained by not being able to paint. Your kindness and generosity during this time will not be forgotten and we hope to be able to repay it one day.
Thanks,
Abe, Joey and Celete
Update 11/18: As you may have seen on her social media channels, bobbi is making a steady recovery! She continues to work on her strength, balance and, mostly, regaining her independence so she can get back to the things she loves doing. We cannot believe the outpouring of support through donations. This money has really eased a lot of the future stressors and has given bobbi the opportunity to really take time to rest and recover. She has been finding the silver lining of this life changing event in small moments, like playing with her granddaughter, who she doesn't get to see on a regular basis. Please consider sharing the link for the gofundme for those who say "let me know what I can do to help", because it truly is the biggest help! We will continue to try to keep you posted but just wanted to take a second to say an enormous thank you!!
