Award-winning photographer and long-time Anchorage Daily News photojournalist Bob Hallinen is grappling with a serious, unexpected medical situation. On July 1, Bob had surgery to remove a brain mass. While there is much to learn about his near term treatment and trajectory, his family’s long term reality has dramatically changed.
Due to shifting mobility needs, safe, accessible housing is now top of mind for the family. Significant repairs are being made to the family home but in the short term, Bob and his wife will need to stay in a hotel or some other situation that is set-up for those with mobility-challenges.
These unexpected expenses are rapidly adding up and are adding financial stress during an already extremely stressful time. Bob and his wife are private, self-sufficient, long-time Alaskans and asking for help is not in their nature. That’s why we are. Thank you for helping us help them as they navigate these uncertain times.
