Support Bob Eierman's Road to Recovery

Hi, my name is Amie and I'm fundraising for my brother, Bob Eierman. On March 10, 2024, my brother was rushed to the hospital by my sister-in-law, Laura, after he collapsed in his basement. This was following a week in which he thought he was battling a bad cold. He learned later that he coded on arrival. He was rushed to the hospital and was intubated. This would be his new home until April 2, 2024. His issues were due to several infections running through his body that doctors struggled to manage. He had sepsis pneumonia and a staph infection in his blood. He wasn't able to breathe on his own so remained intubated for most of his hospitalization. The infections caused the formation of an abscess on his pharynx and severe disc compression. He was transferred on April 2, 2024 to IU - Indianapolis's neurosurgery unit by ambulance to receive higher level, specialized care. He had surgery on April 5, 2024 to remove the abscess and address the disc compression which resulted in fusion of C2-T2. He received 14 screws in his neck and is still wearing the collar to stabilize his neck. He received a picc line to administer antibiotics 4X/day which is still part of his current treatment schedule today. He came home on April 21, 2024 after 6 weeks in the hospital. He is continuing to receive both OT and PT and regaining his strength. He won't be able to return to his job. It is a miracle that he is alive today. He still has a long journey ahead but he is surrounded by a strong support system. He is an AMAZING Grandfather to Piper and is incredibly grateful to be her Papa!

Our family thanks all of you for the love and support that you gave over those weeks! It is the reason he kept fighting!

My sister-in-law is a Paraprofessional to young children with special needs at Lake Central School district. She took a leave of absence for the remainder of the school year to be by his side.

The expenses that my brother and his family incurred were unexpected and have created a financial hardship.

I am humbly asking for our friends and family to help support my brother with his medical expenses. He incurred expenses at the local hospital during his 4 week stay, the 2.5 hour transport from the local hospital to IU-Indy, the 2 week stay in Indy and has ongoing therapy expenses.
