My name is Avian Simpson I currently reside in Florida. My friends, neighbors and family were all affected by the Hurricane.
Board Scheme George’s Plain, a neighborhood in Westmoreland, Jamaica, was my home for many years. Though I’ve since relocated to the United States, my heart breaks to see the devastation there from Hurricane Melissa. During the storm, we were terrified, waiting to hear if our loved ones were safe.
No lives were lost, but Board Scheme desperately needs your help. They have no power, the road infrastructure was destroyed, and there is no cell service or Wi-Fi for communication.
The area’s residents lost their houses and livelihoods, including livestock, crops, and home businesses like dressmakers, auto work, and other trades.
Board Scheme is a tight-knit community of friends and family with an unstoppable work ethic and strong faith. We’re proud to have called it our home, and we want to honor it by using these funds to provide food and essentials like toiletries, clothing, and, with enough donations, supplies to rebuild.
Jamaica offers fun, relaxation, and adventure to vacationers from around the world. Please donate what you can to return the love and generosity of spirit. My hometown is known for being self-sufficient, but today we humbly ask for your help.
With any funds collected we seek to help our families and neighbors to rebuild there homes and provide food and personal items to help them to begin the long process to recovery
