At the beginning of this year we noticed a lump on Blue's chest, and after further testing it was confirmed that she has breast cancer. Luckily it does not seem to have spread, but on Friday 4/3 she will undergo surgery to remove all 6 of her mammary glands to remove the existing mass and to prevent any chance of more breast tumors in the future.

Back in May 2018 Blue came into our lives after needing a new home, and right from the first day she won our hearts. At this point she was already 5 1/2 years old and had not yet been spayed, so we opted to have her sterilized immediately but she went into heat just before the scheduled appointment which made the procedure harder on her. Since then she has healed fully, but being sterilized later in life meant she was at a higher risk of cancer down the line.

Now Blue is 13 1/2, and completely healthy other than the mass in her breast. We know she is getting older, but we would like to do what we can to keep her healthy and comfortable as she still has a high quality of life.
