Dear friends,
I find myself at an unexpected and challenging turning point, and I am reaching out with humility and hope.
I am 76 years old and a masterful massage therapist. I love my work and have helped many people heal over the years. Recently, I broke several ribs and was no longer able to work. A rheumatologist at NYU Langone then diagnosed me with severe osteoporosis and told me I should not do massage anymore. I am now being treated with infusions, vitamins, and minerals to help build bone, so I won’t have to live in such fear of falling. My balance is very off as well.
This has left me without my primary means of livelihood while I figure out what comes next.
I am asking for help not to make a career change, but to support a shift. I am working to devote more time and energy to building my business selling fine art prints—something I am knowledgeable and passionate about, and physically able to do for the rest of my life. I have a collection of beautiful 19th-century natural history prints and the experience to turn them into a viable business with some time and initial financial assistance. I have done this work successfully before with a partner who is no longer available, and I currently have offers from others to help me sell at antique shows and online. I know how to purchase, recognize, present, and sell beautiful things.
What I need now is a bridge: time and resources to organize this business up so it can sustain me.
I am also a Zen Buddhist practitioner of nearly 50 years. With help, I hope to continue my compassionate work with others and live into my lifelong vows to be of service. Please know I am deeply grateful for any contribution, and for the kindness behind it.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Love,
Keisei Blossom Kamen
