December 3rd 2024, Blaze was diagnosed with optic nerve glioma, a tumor in the middle of his optic nerve that has caused him to have vision problems. Since then, Blaze has been put on chemotherapy, starting January 21st 2025, and our family has been in and out of chemo appointments, eye appointments, gastroenterologist appointments, and MRI appointments. We have been on the go non-stop since 2024, doing everything we can to support Blaze through his treatments.
Blaze’s last port infusion was February 24th 2026, and he got to graduate from one of his chemo treatments on April 2nd 2026. He also had his port removed on April 27th 2026, which felt like a big milestone for us. But just a few days later, on April 29th 2026, we found out Blaze had lost vision in his left eye. His ophthalmology doctor called and said we have to move all of his appointments to a closer date, and Blaze has to start a new chemo that’s not through a port. This new chemo comes with a lot more side effects than the last one did, and one of the biggest concerns is heart issues, so Blaze now has to see a cardiologist and several new doctors.
On top of all of this, Blaze has a Make-A-Wish trip coming up, but it doesn’t cover everything or everyone that’s on their list to go. We are trying to raise money for these appointments and to be able to make this trip happen. We are all working, but money is still very tight. Anything will help. We appreciate any support to help Blaze get the care he needs and make his wish trip happen.
