On September 12th, just four days after I lost my mom, my world turned upside down again when my husband, Blake, suffered a stroke (he's only 40!). Blake is my rock — a loving husband, a devoted son, and someone who has always been there for others. He has a generous heart, a quiet strength, and a way of making people feel cared for without ever asking for anything in return.
This stroke has changed our lives in ways we never imagined. Blake now faces a long road of recovery, and while he is determined and strong, the journey ahead is filled with challenges — physically, emotionally, and financially.
Blake has always carried his share and more — helping to support our household by paying half of everything from the mortgage to the electricity, and stepping in to help his mom after his dad passed away. He took on the financing for her car so she wouldn’t lose reliable transportation.
Now, with 26 weeks of unpaid leave from work, Blake can’t contribute the way he always has. On top of that, we’ll be paying for his insurance completely out-of-pocket, along with medical bills, therapy, and daily living costs. Each month, Blake normally covers his share of the mortgage, our family’s phone plan, lawn care (since I’m allergic), and two car payments — his own and his mom’s. Without his income, keeping up with these commitments feels overwhelming.
This fundraiser is to help keep our home safe and stable — to make sure the lights stay on, the mortgage is paid, and his mom doesn’t lose her car — while Blake focuses on what matters most: healing and recovery.
We’ve set a goal of $30,000 to help cover six months of these essential costs, along with the added medical expenses of his recovery.
We know times are hard for so many people, and asking for help is not something that comes easily to us. But right now, any support — whether it’s a donation, a share, or simply keeping Blake in your thoughts and prayers — means more than words can express.
Every bit of help will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads, covering medical and recovery costs, and giving Blake the peace of mind to focus on healing instead of worrying about bills.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading, for caring, and for standing with us in this difficult time. Your kindness brings hope to our family, and we are so deeply grateful.
