Support Blakely’s Medical Journey

Donation protected
Blakely’s parents, Alexis & Beau, have the been going through the unthinkable with their beautiful baby girl, Blakely. Please consider donating to help this incredible family and their precious daughter. If you cannot donate, simply keeping her in your thoughts and prayers is appreciated and comforting. We appreciate everyone’s support!

On 10/16/2024, 911 was called for Blakely. She suffered what was diagnosed to be a “BRUE” or Brief Resolved Unexplained Episode. An episode in which the baby is posturing, turns purple, stops breathing and losses consciousness. They were told Blakely is otherwise healthy and it is very rare for BRUEs to occur more than once.
On 10/26/2024, Blakely suffered two more BRUEs. 911 was called and she was admitted to OSF St. Francis Children’s Hospital. After multiple days full of numerous tests and no significant findings, Blakely was allowed to go home.
In less than 24 hours, Blakely suffered another episode and was admitted at Iowa City Hospital. After multiple long days and nights full of more testing, Blakely was diagnosed with Sandifer Syndrome- a rare movement disorder causing uncontrollable muscle spasms as a result of acid. She was also diagnosed with GERD (acid reflux). The acidity is too much for Blakely and her little body can’t handle the pain which is what causes her BRUEs.
Blakely’s parents and family have been this little girl's lifeline throughout the past few weeks by ensuring someone is always awake and monitoring her to try and “catch her” before the episodes start, in hopes that they can stop it, fearing the need to perform CPR on their baby girl.
Diagnoses have been made and treatments have been initiated. Blakely will continue to be closely monitored by her doctors, as well as see a feeding and speech specialist to try and alleviate her discomfort.
Blakely has had more doctor visits, ER trips, and hospital admissions and testing in her 4 short weeks since her birth, than most people have in their lifetime.
Due to the unforeseen circumstances, the family has not been able to work. All money donated will be going to the family to assist in the financial burden with medical bills, lost wages, added costs, gas, etc. Please keep Blakely, Alexis, and Beau in your thoughts and prayers! Thank you for your support!
