I first met Blake Palmer at the tender age of 12, when he was caught ‘borrowing’ candy from the local 7-11 and asked me to help get his bike back - as he had to quickly vacate the premises. Since that day, the Blake we all know and love has free-spirited his way through life with an unwavering love for his friends, his family, his bike, and any kind of candy-based product.
Whether you’ve met Blake or not, one look at this dude and you can tell he’s a quirky fire-dancing hippie who may or may not have spent many years living under the radar in foreign lands. He plays the role of “cool uncle” to dozens of kids with his electric skateboard, boho-chic style, and laissez-faire attitude. He biked across Canada (against the wind) for fun, he frisbee-golfs like he’s been selected for the Olympics, and he will gladly fix broken stuff in your house regardless of whether he knows how to do it or whether he has the right tools.
Blake was recently diagnosed with advanced melanoma, and he is fighting with everything he has. He’s in the hospital in Calgary and needs us to shoulder his concerns for things like medical bills, transportation, and rent, and of course take care of his bike more than ever.
Blake is a beautiful human who we all love and who needs our help. Please share what you can with him, and share this story, so he can go back to being Blake.
