Support Blake D'Ombrain after his life changing accident
Donation protected
A few days before the end of 2024, life changed in an instant for 19 year old Blake D’Ombrain, when due to a tragic accident he suffered a catastrophic, life-changing spinal injury. Blake and his family are devastated - and your support will help them take on the challenging road ahead.
Blake is a vibrant, fit and sporty young man. He grew up on the south coast of NSW, attending Milton Public School and Ulladulla High. Along with his siblings, Hailey, Maddison and Harrison, Blake played all sports with a passion - excelling at running and football. His Mum, Kim, is a much loved local primary school teacher and the family was involved in many local sporting groups. More recently, Blake moved west to Wagga Wagga where he set up his own business as a concreter and 2025 was looking like the year his business would flourish.
On 30 December 2024, home for Christmas, Blake did what hundreds of other young people do every summer - heading down to the Gantry at Bawley Point to leap off the platform into the water. But in a tragic turn of events, Blake landed awkwardly, taking most of the impact on his head and neck causing a life long spinal injury.
Blake was rescued from the water by his younger sister, Hailey, and other beachgoers. He was cared for on the beach, including by members of the Bawley Point RFS, until a helicopter arrived and took him to Royal North Shore Hospital, where he underwent a gruelling ten hour surgery.
Blake will remain in intensive care for at least a few more weeks, before he begins rehabilitation at the specialist Spinal Injuries Unit at Prince of Wales Hospital, where he will likely stay for up to a year.
There is no doubt that Blake has a tough road ahead. His family will be right by his side to support him and assist with his intensive therapy. Any support you can offer Blake and his family at this challenging time will be much appreciated.
