Support Black-Owned Healing & Education Center

Hello Community!

Soul Unalome Collective is a local brick and mortar Holistic and Spiritual Center in Louisville, KY. Unfortunately, we have been the target of hate crimes against Black-owned businesses and “magic shops” that some people want to destroy and shut down.

Our issues started in 2024, which led to us moving to the current location after our Dixie Hwy location was broken into and then flooded due to poor maintenance, in which we lost over $12,000 in equipment, supplies, stock, and more.

As we are self-funded and have never received any grants or financial awards, our family and team have poured everything into this community for the last 8 plus years. So the loss plus the cost to move was devastating.

We moved into our Palatka Rd location on October 7, 2024, with hopes of starting a community garden and really tapping into being a bigger community resource with access to almost an acre of land for use along with our store and education center.

The owners of the property were fully aware of the intended usage of the property.

By October 25th, we received an official notice that someone had filed a complaint against our location with the Metro Zoning and Planning Commission. We were told to basically shut down operations or get in compliance with zoning codes.

Being that we are a retail business, we were told by the property owner that we would need to apply for a C1 zoning; we did not qualify for home occupation. Our location is surrounded by commercial businesses to the north, east, and south of the property lines. This is where it got very iffy.

On March 13th Zoning and Code Enforcement showed up to our location and we were given information that enforcement and fines were to follow.

We were told that because the owner did not complete actually application we have to shut down at which the property owners have said for us to move out and that we will not get our deposit back. But they still want us to pay the lease rent as the lease expires in October 2025.

March 20th we ceased our operations which has caused loss of income and customers.

We have found a commercial space along with storage units that we can move into April 1st 2025.

We need financial help to be abe to get movers, moving trucks, supplies and to be able to pay the 1st month's rent and deposit. We have taken a lot of losses in the last year. We do not want to be the next small business to close its doors, so we are asking for help.

For 9 years we have served the Kentuckiana area community safely and quietly. We just want to continue to fulfill that mission.
