My name is Inkiru Bernard and Hurricane Melissa has destroyed my hometown of Black River, Jamaica - including my childhood home where my mother still lives, her name is Inez McRae. She lost her roof and almost all of her possessions during the Hurricane and has been sleeping on the ground covered by zinc ever since the storm passed. I am raising the funds to first provide temporary roofing for my mom, then building a more permanent solution. The funds will also purchase critical furniture and appliances that were destroyed in the storm - a gas stove, refrigerator, mattress etc. I will transfer the money to the joint account at the National Commercial Bank I hold with my mother in Jamaica and will go to Jamaica myself on November 8th for a week to spearhead the reroofing. I will return in December to continue the work. Sky News UK has featured our story and they were instrumental in reconnecting me with my mother for the first time since the hurricane passed. Please donate to help us rebuild the house. You can watch our story on the link provided.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHPhWqSzov0&list=LL&index=1&t=74s
