HI, My name is Tay and I am a Black Nonbinary Farmer, Landworker, and student of nature. This is my 6th season growing vegetables and excited to have a focus on flower and herbs this year.
I am excited to share a part of this new journey I am embarking on. IF you know me, you know I've been moving towards alternative living situations for a min now due to the necessity of being constantly in motion and needing stable housing.
I remodeled a bus back in 2019, the engine died 10 miles from home (ATL) and it left me in a even more vulnerable place of not having stable housing. As a farmer and educator the wages that are often offered to us a far below living wages. This has made housing very difficult for me, moving ever 6 months and sometimes monthly. I am really grateful for the journey I've been on and the lessons I've learned though I desire stable housing. IT has not been easy, but I've learned how to trust people around me, trust myself and my ancestors/the land.
So this past week a few of my dreams have come to be! I found a physical trailer home! I will be transitioning into a Travel Trailer soon. I feel so much gratitude to be able to live on the land. I feel so much gratitude because I am exactly where I need and want to be. I feel so much gratitude because this slick felt impossible in the early stages, but every little piece has come together with such ease .
Though I don't feel like my liberation is tied to material objects I recognize this is a step towards liberation and creating stable housing that I need. So why a travel trailer? Because I'm not interested in the extractive cycle of working to pay rent. Because I be in motion and my house has wheels. Because I deserve safe stable housing! Because Im tryna get free and I need the space and time to care for myself so that I can fully show up and care for those in my community. Because I want to support other Black queer folks that desire this type of living .
So all of that to say I am inviting you to support me on this journey. I will be living off grid ( no power or water) and I need to do some repairs, and make this home functional. I am asking for support to purchase
Solar panels - $1000
Compost toilet- $960
Bathroom Fan- $160
Kitchen Fan- $100
Mattress- $300
Wood ( for replacing bathroom floor and building bed frame)- $200
Laminate tile( for bathroom)- $50

Labor because I'm working 40 hour farm job and I have two weeks and Remodel = $1480
