My name is Deycha. I am a black queer femme artist living in Seattle, WA, the unceded land of the Coast Salish & the Duwamish people. I was born and raised in DC, situated on the ancestral lands of the Nacotchtank, Piscataway & Pamunkey peoples. I've found joy, grounding and healing nestled between the sea, the sound and the lakes. My hope is to share this space with my mother as she gets the help that she deeply deserves and desires.
My mother is the most fierce person that I've ever know. She's poured into me endlessly and most other's who've come to her in times of need. Now, I am here to hold her up as she lays claim to her joy. I've taken on the task of relocating my mother and brother here to Seattle. The funds raised with this campaign will go to my mother's healing including mental health care, secure housing, and building a positive future.
I'm trusting in community, that we'll take care of and honor her.
A rough breakdown for uses of funds:
- 8 months of rent as a buffer as we get things transitioned
- Moving costs (shipping belongs or driving TBD)
- Small emergency fund
We thank you deeply for reading, liking/share and/or donating!
With love,
Deycha
