Support Black In Natural History Museums

Black In Natural History Museums
Thanks to all who contributed to our first GoFundMe, we were able to build our website (https://www.blackinnhms.org), and host a successful inaugural BlackInNHMs event (https://www.blackinnhms.org/bnhm-week).

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we are a grassroots organization of dedicated professionals (curators, professors, collections managers, graduate students and communication specialists) building the infrastructure from the ground up to engage and create a community for Black folks who are in, were in, or interested in being in NHMs. We are raising funds to continue building our non-profit and accomplish the goals and mission of our organization. We have established a giving fund through PayPal and GoFundMe to collect ongoing donations.

Background:
BlackInNHMs is a community developed to harness the power of the collective. We help individuals find mentors, mentees, and wellness while navigating through the sometimes harsh, isolating world of being Black in NHMs. We want to diversify our natural history museums. We want the voices, opinions, and stories of Black people to be heard, reflected and respected in Natural history museums. And we were hoping you could help us make it happen.

Our group's vision is to provide community, group support, science education, and networking for Black folx involved in Natural History Museums. We plan to

We need your help in order to introduce and support more Black people in natural history. Please consider donating to help us promote a community for those who have been historically excluded.

What will the funds be used for?

We will support presenters for the annual event, hosts events thereafter for members to connect and engage, and provide financial support to aid in the recruitment and retention of Black folx in museums.

Date of the campaign:

May 27th - ongoing
