We come to you with a heavy but hopeful heart to share the story of our beloved Bishop Stensgar, a cherished member of our family and a dedicated descendant of the Colville Tribe. Bishop is currently in a critical health situation, having spent the last 25 days in a hospital in Arizona, where he has undergone multiple surgeries due to severe internal bleeding and complications related to Wilson’s disease, kidney failure, and liver issues.

Bishop’s journey began unexpectedly while on his way home from a national bowling tournament in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he was surrounded by family and friends. Tragically, we received the heartbreaking news that Mae’s last brother had passed away. During this difficult time, Bishop began to feel ill and was transported to the local hospital in Chinle, AZ. After being diagnosed with internal bleeding, he was rushed to Phoenix, where he has fought for his life through three major surgeries.

Currently, Bishop is stable but remains in a medically fragile, requiring extensive care and support. He has received an astonishing 9-11 pints of blood, and doctors are working tirelessly to stabilize his condition. The best outcome we hope for is a liver transplant, but the road to recovery is long and fraught with challenges.

Unfortunately, insurance has been a barrier in getting him the urgent life flight he needs to Seattle for specialized treatment. The costs associated with his medical care and transportation are overwhelming, estimated at $150,000. This is why we are reaching out to you today.
