Hi everyone, my name is Sarah and this little kitten is Birdie! Birdie has not known a day of peace in her entire life. When she was six weeks old, my sister and I found Birdie in our backyard with both eyes sealed shut and covered in fleas. We brought her to the vet and were told she had about a 40 percent chance of survival and that she would probably be totally blind. We took a gamble bringing her home to bottle-feed her and treat her eyes with antibiotics and ointments until finally, the gunk came off and we found out she actually had one good eye!

After this, she developed an abdominal abscess that popped and had to also be treated with more antibiotics. She then had a solid, healthy month where she was pretty much a normal, fun-loving kitten… unfortunately, on June 27th, she began to have uncontrollable diarrhea. On the third vet visit, we finally thought we had answers when she was diagnosed and treated for Giardia, but the diarrhea persisted for weeks after testing negative for Giardia. We have a full team of internal medicine specialists, eye specialists, several “normal” vets, and other emergency vet specialists. Two weeks ago, we were able to run a saline colon flush and got a positive coccidia diagnosis as well and have restarted treatment to hopefully put an end to her diarrhea.

But of course, another twist in Birdie's story as she suddenly became lame in her front leg. Our vet team can see nothing wrong with the leg, and the lameness subsided, but in its place left Birdie with a 105-degree fever that will not go down. Birdie is currently being hospitalized at an emergency vet, but we are running out of funds! The sheer amount of diagnostics have run us up to almost 10k, so I am desperately seeking additional help and resources. I have gotten a second job and taken out a care credit card that has now been maxed out, and I am running out of options.
