Midwest Historic Masonic Lodge Association is a 501(c)(3) Not For Profit Kansas corporation established over 10 years ago to develop educational opportunities for Masons to present our history directly to the general public. Our first program was to establish a public presentation in an accredited museum - and it has been wildly successful! Our Lodge Hall exhibit at Old Cow Town Museum in Wichita, Kansas hosts about 10,000 guests annually. We have become an integral part of Old Cow Town Museum by developing, maintaining and curating our site on the 23-acre site!
We are adding another major goal - to research, record, write and publish biographies of Masons of the 1860's to 1890's who have been key to the building of the Midwest Region of the USA but who have been 'lost' to history. Our first biography is Br. George D'Amour and it will be published this spring in the Midwest Historical and Genealogical Society newsletter later this spring! Additional research is continuing with the Grand Lodge of Colorado, AF&AM, so we expect to expand his story and publish it with the Kansas Historical Society, and possibly other publications!
Our next biography project is for Br. Charles Warren Hill, Sr who was the first Secretary of Wichita Lodge #99, was a successful druggist key to the early development of Wichita. He moved to Parsons, KS and was responsible for developing water, gas and electrical systems for Parsons, Wellington, Winfield, Anthony, Fort Scott and El Reno, OK. He was active in the oil and gas development in Oklahoma. As a Civil War veteran, he retired to the Sawtelle Old Soldiers Home in Los Angeles, CA where he passed away in 1930.
We are looking for funding to expand our presentation at Old Cow Town Museum and to continuing the researching, writing and publishing of 'Lost Brother's' biographies.
Donations will be used to support our exhibit at Old Cowtown Museum in Wichita, KS and to support the research and publication of our biographies published to the historic community.
