We are writing this on behalf of our brother, Billy Joe Gifford.
On July 17th, Billy was involved in a devastating motorcycle accident when a truck made a left turn in front of him in Lomita, CA. Upon impact with the right-side door of the truck, Billy was ejected from his motorcycle, incurring major life-threatening injuries.
Emergency Response Services rushed him to Harbor UCLA Medical Center, where he underwent immediate emergency surgery. He has since had three more surgeries, with more expected surgeries to follow. His injuries include a fractured pelvis, a broken femur, a fractured wrist, and multiple facial injuries.
For over 35 years, Billy has been a vital part of our community, dedicating his time and work to Habitat for Humanity, fixing anything that's broken, helping with carpets and drywall, and always doing it with a smile, making people laugh along the way. Although generous to a fault, he never asks for anything in return.
If you know Billy (or as some of you know him, "Strait"), you know he's the kind of guy who always shows up for others, "rain or shine." When he's not lending a helpful hand, Billy loves spending time with the love of his life, Kat, along with his loyal dog Silky, and family (particularly his two grandchildren, Theo and Maggie). You can often find him playing pool at the Ale House, sharing a story or two, and lighting up the room with his heart and quick wit.
NOW IT IS OUR TURN TO SHOW UP FOR BILLY!!!
We've created this fundraiser to support Billy on his long road to recovery. As the medical bills continue to grow, we are humbly asking for any support you can offer. No amount is too small - every donation will go directly toward his surgeries, treatments, and ongoing care. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this message with friends, family, and anyone whose life has been touched by Billy's kindness to our community.
We thank you for your overwhelming love, support, and prayers during this incredibly challenging time. We deeply and sincerely appreciate everyone who has reached out with their thoughts and actions, as we support and stand by Billy on his road to recovery.
With gratitude and blessings,
Billy's Family
