On Tuesday, May 27th, our dear friend Billy Coats suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Thankfully his friends responded quickly! They called for emergency responders and starting lifesaving CPR. He has also received continuous, amazing care by doctors and the hospital staff.
He is currently in the hospital recovering. He will moved to the long-term acute care floor at Mosaic yesterday, June 20th. He will likely be there a while. He has been an in and out of the ICU during this time. Many other organs in Billy‘s body have been affected, including his G.I. tract, stomach problems (resolved), liver issues (resolved), and kidney damage. He is currently receiving dialysis regularly.
Many of you know Billy as a passionate cyclist, a devoted family man, and a loyal friend. He is a dog lover, camper, hiker, kayaker and more importantly he is a husband, a father, a grandfather, a son, a brother, a friend and a nurse.
Anyone who knows Billy knows he works hard and plays harder.
Billy’s kindness and positivity make a lasting impression.
No one is a stranger to Billy. Doesn’t matter if you’re the president of the US or living on the streets, he treats everyone with respect and kindness. He doesn't judge or discriminate.
Billy has a servant’s heart whether at home or work. He is available to help mow your lawn, help you move, build your deck or sit with you when you are in the hospital or have lost a parent. He worked as an EMT and later became a nurse. He’s worked on an ambulance, in the ER, orthopedics, urgent care, and most recently as a Pediatric nurse in a clinic. Kids and parents alike all love him! ❤️
Whether he was riding long distances with his cycling crew, heading out for a weekend of camping, or just being there for family or a friend in need, Billy showed up with heart and purpose.
Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
Billy’s road to recovery will take time, and we hope to ease some of the financial burden that comes with hospital stays, medical expenses, and time away from work. Every donation, big or small, will help support Billy and his family through this difficult time.
